What does “sustainability” mean in childcare?

In the context of childcare agencies, sustainability means much more than ecology. It is about social, educational, and structural stability:

The Fairness & Sustainability Check for the Employment Contract

A legally secure and appreciative contract is the foundation for a harmonious working relationship. The following points must be regulated:

Legal Employment

Consistent registration via the Minijob-Zentrale (up to €603/month) or as an employment relationship subject to social security contributions (over €603/month).

Strict separation of educational childcare and pure housekeeping. Additional tasks (bulk shopping, cleaning for the entire family) must be separately agreed upon and remunerated.

Full statutory (or above-statutory) entitlement to paid vacation as well as continued payment of wages in the event of the nanny’s illness.

Written confirmation of whether overtime is compensated financially or through time off in lieu (days off).

Clear agreements and supplements for any travel accompaniment, weekend work, or evening/on-call duties.

Salary Calculation for the Munich Area (as of 2026)

Due to the very high cost of living in Munich, real wages in the premium segment are significantly above the national average and the statutory minimum wage (€13.90).

Option A: Experienced Staff / Students (without professional educational training)

Hourly wage: €18 to €22 gross
Monthly salary (full-time, 40 hours/week): approx. €3,100 to €3,800 gross

Option B: Qualified Professionals (Educators, Childcare Assistants, Professional Nannies)

Hourly wage: €23 to €30+ gross Monthly salary (full-time, 40 hours/week): approx. €4,000 to €5,200 gross

(The market average for full-time professionals in Munich is approx. €4,640 gross).

Additional Costs for the Employer (Family):

For a Minijob (up to €603): Due to the fair Munich hourly wage (approx. €20), a maximum of approx. 30 working hours per month (under 8 hours/week) is possible here. Employer contributions to the Minijob-Zentrale amount to approx. 14.62% on top.

For permanent employment (over €603): In addition to the nanny’s gross salary, you as the employer must calculate approx. 20% to 22% in ancillary costs for social security (pension, health, long-term care, unemployment).

…Kids Concept is one of them.

Reputable agencies work sustainably by thoroughly checking references, criminal records (enhanced certificate of good conduct), and the qualifications of applicants.

As one of the leading Munich providers, we at Kids Concept have a very high focus on sustainability. We conduct exclusively personal interviews by experienced educators (no mass video interviews) and provide legally secure template contracts.
